Koinè of the Adriatic

January 11th, 2008

We want to focus on the rebuilding of the Koinè through the memories and on the relationships rebuilt after the fall of the invisble wall of the Adriatic sea.
For Koinè we mean a thick network of exchanges, economic and cultural relationships that characterized the daily social life of the adriatic places since 1600. This is not a historical operation. We want to track the continuity of the Adriatic and to talk about organizational proposals for the future.
Action: to identify the guidelines of the Koinè and suggest some organizational paths and initiatives in order to start up, in the current situation, a path of possible and new Koinè. For example fairs in the Adriatic area or other activities.

Local tourism system

January 11th, 2008

We want to focus on the identification of the items of all places that belong to and are able to enter a local tourism sytem, which is based on a fractureless development of the community and of some guidelines of responsible tourism.
Action: from the point of view of a local development, insert the environmental and cultural heritage of all places.
Identify the specific service and the structure of the open place as an organizational proposal of the local tourism system.

MARINAS “Visual website”

January 11th, 2008

If we want to develop a website including virtual tours and interactive maps, we have to consider three different levels related to:

(1)exploration of the marina – f.i. look around

(2)exploration of the city – f.i. go for a walk

(3)exploration of the inland – f.i. go for an excursion

Concerning point (1), the virtual tours of the marinas already developed by the Polytechnic University of Marche (360 degrees images) are appropriate.

Concerning point (2), it would be nice to have a less static virtual tour, wit the possibility to follow the most meaningful streets and alleys. The surfer should be allowed to move freely and to simulate a walk around. If you want to get an idea of what I mean, please visit the “Visual site” published within the web site www.paginegialle.it

Concerning point (3), it should be considered that itineraries are related to a territory much wider than the historical centre of a small city. Therefore, the virtual tour has to be “on the road”. In order to simulate a trip by car or a walk it is necessary to use tools such as Google Earth and to integrate them with images, information and itineraries that one can download on a navigator for cars.

Please, give your contribution to this hypothesis, it is nice to have suggestions to improve www.adrimarinas.eu

Adriatic and Sport

January 11th, 2008

If we want to interpret the Adriatic area as a new integrated space for tourism activities, we have to develop a series of large scale promotional initiatives. More important, this kind of initiatives should directly involve the population of the different countries and suggest that a new age of fair and friendly relations has just started. As a final result, this kind of events could attract the segment of international sporting tourists, which is becoming more and more significant at global level.
“The cold war is over, now it is time to play together”, this could be the positive message to be launched.
Now, we think that the sporting activities are the best mean to facilitate this atmosphere. Sport is the natural dimension where people of different nations meet with pleasure, express themselves at the highest level without the constraint of the language, share the same rules, accept the results of the game. Secondly, sporting events have the capacity to define a geographic area at popular level, by making the people aware that different regions belong to the same macro-territory. Just an example. The participation of Turkey in the European Football Champions League has been a more effective factor of European integration, if compared to the official request to be part of the European Community presented by the Government in 1962!
Therefore, we think that as a first step a series of Adriatic games could be organised at trans-municipal and trans-regional level. The firs disciplines to be touched are the paddle sports such as rowing and canoeing and the sailing, where the sea is a central element. A peculiar attention should be paid to the disabled sports, where the potential of integration of diversity is fully expressed.
As a consequence, the capacity of the Adriatic space to attract tourists interested in the sporting activities could be improved. This segment of tourism is increasing significantly and the expectations of the clients are becoming more and more precise. Globe08, the international trade show for the tourism sector recently organised in Rome, has demonstrated that cycling is for instance an activity strongly requested by targets of tourists with different but precise expectations. They are families with children, groups of professionals aged about 40 or 50, young couples. These tourists are not linked to a precise destination. They are ready to explore different local areas, if a sort of red line is suggested and if an efficient organisation is guaranteed.
Sport represents a great opportunity for the integrated tourism in the Adriatic area. We strongly hope that innovative ideas, combined with a positive framework of collaboration, will allow sporting tourists to satisfy their expectations on the Eastern and Western coasts of the Adriatic sea.
