The territory of the province of Ancona is a natural step for the tourists visiting the middle Adriatic. The monte Conero, with its 600 metres on the sea level has for a long time guided the mariners bound towards the ports of Ancona and Numana. The city of Senigallia has attracted with its flourishing exhibition already in the Late Middle Ages and through the modern age centuries, those merchants who, with their frequent trades, have transformed the Adriatic into an open and integrating space.
Today the tourist may dock to any of these towns with a sports craft, touch the important port of Ancona during a cruise or reach it by ferry boat from the Croatian ports of Zadar, Split, Boxava, Korcula, Hvar, Vis, from the Montenegrin port of Bar or the Greek ports of Patras and Igoumenitsa.
The first discovery will be the coast, animated by the activities of fishing and characterized by sandy beaches to the north (Senigallia, Falconara Marittima), and suggestive beaches with rocks (Portonovo) and gravel (Numana, Marcelli) towards south.
The arrival at the town will be followed by the exploration of the internal valleys, crossed by short watercourses and used for the cultivation (orchards, vineyards, olive groves and vegetables) as well as for the animals breeding.
This will be the occasion to discover high quality products such as Verdicchio dei castelli di Jesi, a prestigious white wine, the Lacrima di Morro d'Alba, unmistakable red wine or the olive oil of Monte San Vito. You will meet ancient and titled workings such as the paper one in Fabriano and the musical instruments one in Castelfidardo and Osimo.
Finally it will be possible to touch the mountain, crossing the parco naturale della Gola della Rossa e di Frasassi up to the karstic Frasassi caves, unique for dimensions and variety of shapes.
